I spent the morning picking up trash at Lands End in San Francisco as part of California Coastal Cleanup Day.
This is an annual event where volunteers gather to help keep our public
places beautiful. It made me grateful to live in Northern California,
but also sad for how discourteous some people are with the debris they
leave behind. As a plein air painter, I feel fortunate to capture so
many scenes that change over the years due to environmental conditions
or population growth. I take the responsibility seriously as an outdoor
painter to help the environment. It is critical to set an example and
clean up all trash accumulated during a paint out when done. What habits
have you acquired in your plein air work to assure you retain the
pristine conditions you paint?
