Richard Schmid "The Landscapes" Book

My best Christmas present was Richard Schmid's new book "The Landscapes" which is filled with over 300 images spanning his 50 years of painting. He is a true inspiration and his landscapes are masterpieces.

  2. Brent...thanks for the info on the book. Just ordered. I have been following your blog. Good work and getting better each year. Are you going to include New Harmony in your painting trips this year?

  4. Brent, what did you think of Richard Schmid's new book The Landscape. Is it instructional or just a collection of his landscape paintings? Thinking about buying it but have not come across any critiques.

  5. The book is a collection of paintings with a little history. It is definetely not an instructional book. Many of the paintings are repeats from previous books he has published so some people may be dissapointed. It continues to inspire me as the reproduction quality is excellent. I'm glad I added this book to my collection. Brent

  6. I too have the book - the images are instruction enough - I particularly like the way he renders tree branches and merges the groundscape with the walls of buildings.

  7. is there any commentary in the book or is it basically that minor portion of history. I just read alla prima (and then re-read it about a million times) and cannot even even state how impressed by Schmid's artwork and the overall content of the book.
