Mendocino Coast, 8 x 10 oil painting
The Winter months can seem long and discouraging to an artist that likes to paint outdoors. We find ourselves wondering if Spring will ever come. When I become lethargic and unmotivated to be creative, I head to the beach. Even in Winter, it lifts my spirits. This has increased my creative energy. What do you do as a plein air painter to get through Winter?
Hi Brent. I've been thinking about the beach myself. I just moved up to Truckee from Sacramento last November. It has been such a mild winter, I have given up on the idea of any good skiing and have decided that I'm ready for Spring. Now I'm planning a trip to the Monterey Peninsula for the entire month of April. I rented a one bedroom cottage in Pacific Grove. I'm going to the Plein Air Convention again and decided that I wanted to stay after that and paint the coast. I'm also teaching a two day workshop at the end of the month in PC. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteExciting news for you Randy. So many wonderful paint options in and around Pacific Grove. Be sure and have a eat at Compagno's Market & Deli. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but they make the best sandwiches you'll find.
